R/C experience:
I`ve been making models for as long as I can remember. I started R/C in my early teens with a rig full of valves and big batteries! I built my first
system from kits when I was 14, it was single channel, super-regen receiver and escapement for rudder control. There was a strong American influence in my hobby. My first engine was a Cox Baby-Bee, my first proportional rig was a Citizenship 3+1 (anyone remember it?)
By the late 70`s
I was using an EK Logictrol radio, it was well built and reliable, with gold plated connectors and the flight pack was small
for that era. Then it all went Japanese and I developed a taste for 4-stroke flying.
About 1985 I built my first gyro. I had always had a facination for rotary winged flight but model helicopters were out of my reach at that time. The model was the TVM Hobbit and flew very sucessfully during that season. Since then I`ve had two unsuccessful encounters with homemade gyros until, in `99, I discovered the "Gyronuts". I`ve now built one of JB`s "Simple-G" designs. It first flew
in February 2000 and has been a great re-introduction to this fascinating branch of the hobby. I fly from a private
field.
